The Dragon Trading Company

The Dragon Trading Company is an interesting business that has been on Woodson Road in Overland, Missouri since at least 1990. I’ve driven by it countless times, but never stopped to check it out.  I recently learned they’re open to the public and finally ventured inside, thanks to the Two Miles in Overland Saturday walking group’s pre-rain (mostly) adventure today.

This unique business in Overland is made to primarily serve restaurants and has a bit of an Asian focus, but it’s a must see for anyone who likes to cook and wants affordable professional tools for their kitchen. There are numerous great finds to be had on their many shelves.

Shopping here is a bit like a scavenger hunt accompanied by numerous out-of-sync, motion activated doorbells as you find one interesting thing after another.  There were so many things I wanted to take home, but my budget was saved because I forgot to grab my wallet this morning when I left to set up the Overland Farmers Market.

The place is a bit like something out of a Dr. Who episode because it's so much bigger on the inside.  This wonderful warehouse has “layers” of products everywhere.  They’re geared towards local food service businesses, but there are all sorts of things you might want at home as well.   They have all sizes of Woks and chopsticks, massive pots and utensils, a huge variety of flatware and serving dishes, as well as restaurant-grade appliances, black iron fittings and much more.

This cavernous and chaotic warehouse might not be for everyone, but if you’re remotely adventurous you’ll love this place, and if you love to cook this may just be your local nirvana. Go check them out and please tell them Overland Online sent you.

See our gallery of the many great things you can find there.
